The NCAA has said it would no longer accept core courses, grades or graduation degrees from four high schools: Prince Avenue Prep in Pickens, SC.; Florida Prep in Port Charlotte, FL; Lutheran Christian Academy in Philadelphia and American Academy High School in Miami.

The move was part of the NCAA’s ongoing investigation of so-called diploma mills. Last summer, the NCAA temporarily cleared Prince Avenue and Florida Prep but announced it would keep reviewing both schools.

Monday’s move means athletes enrolled at those schools will have trouble getting cleared to play for NCAA schools.

Sophomore Jessica Johnson of East Carolina has been named Conference USA hitter of the week in softball after batting .529 (9-for-17) over a span of six games.

During the Pirate Clash, Johnson batted .571 (8-for-14). She had three multi-hit games, four doubles and seven RBI. In the championship game against James Madison, Johnson hit a two-run home run to give the Pirates a 5-0 lead.

Johnson was named the tournament's most valuable player.

North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough, Boston College's Jared Dudley and Florida State's Al Thornton were unanimously selected by the 106 voting members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association as first team all-conference. They were joined by Virginia's Sean Singletary and Virginia Tech's Zabian Dowdell.
