MOUNT PLEASANT, SC — College of Charleston used a 6-run third inning in a 10-3 win over East Carolina on Sunday to take the series two games to one.
The Pirates (10-10) went ahead, 1-0, in the top of the second as Jacob Starling walked and went to second on a wild pitch before Justin Wilcoxin had an RBI single into left field.
The Cougars (12-8) went ahead to stay on a 2-run homer to center by Luke Wood in the bottom of the second.
Donald Hansis had a 2-run double for the hosts in the third and Wood delivered a 2-run single.
Ryan McCrystal finished the scoring with a 2-run homer to right-center for the Pirates in the ninth.
ECU starter Jake Hunter (0-1) was charged with the loss. Connor Campbell (3-0) started and went six innings for the win. Cole Mathis pitched the last three innings for his first save.
Lane Hoover went 3-for-4 with a double for the Pirates.
The Pirates visit UNC-Wilmington on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Seahawks are coming off a 2-1 series win at home against Ohio State.
