MOUNT PLEASANT, SC — The opener of a 3-game series between East Carolina and College of Charleston was suspended Friday due to inclement weather with the Pirates leading 6-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Cougars had runners on first and third with one out when play was halted.
The contest is scheduled to resume Saturday at 1 p.m. with the second game of the series slated to start 45 minutes after the completion of the suspended matchup.
Jake Kuchmaner started and went five innings for the Pirates on Friday. The senior left-hander allowed seven hits, two earned runs with one walk and three strikeouts. Garrett Saylor pitched an inning of scoreless relief before C.J. Mayhue was summoned to the mound after an error and a walk in the seventh.
The Pirates got a two-run homer from Jacob Jenkins-Cowart and a solo shot from Alec Makarewicz in a 3-run fifth inning.
