Carter joins East Carolina football staff
Tulane alum Tim Carter has joined the
East Carolina football staff as a defensive staff assistant, Coach Skip
Holtz announced on Tuesday.
Carter's appointment fills the vacancy
created in January when graduate assistant and former Pirate football star
Marc Yellock accepted a fulltime position as defensive line coach at Elon.
Yellock served the past two seasons as an ECU staff assistant, working
primarily with the defensive line.

Carter played with the Winnipeg Blue
Bombers in the Canadian Football League during the 2003 and 2004 seasons
after opening his professional career with the New Orleans Saints and Berlin
Thunder of NFL-Europe.
"Tim's a young, energetic and
articulate guy who has a desire to be at East Carolina," Holtz stated. "He's
had a long association with Rick Smith (Pirates secondary coach) so I'm
excited about the role he will play assisting him in our secondary. Football
is in his blood and he's eager to begin his coaching career. I'm not sure if
anyone in his position comes more highly-recommended."
Carter earned four letters as a
defensive back at Tulane and played a key role in the Green Wave's perfect
12-0 season in 1998.
