BUIES CREEK — Pinch hitter Logan Jordan hit an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Campbell to a 6-5 win over No. 11 East Carolina on Tuesday at Jim Perry Stadium.
Eight Pirate pitchers yielded seven walks and hit six Camel batters.
“Too many freebies,” said ECU skipper Cliff Godwin on the Pirate radio network.
Lawson Harrill scored the winning run after leading off the bottom of the 10th with a walk on four pitches. Trenton Harris followed with a bunt single that put runners at first and second. Harris was retired on a fielder’s choice that put Harrill at third.
Jordan connected off Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman for the winning run.
The Pirates (3-1) left the potential go-ahead run at third in the top of the 10th after Luke Nowak reached on a one-out error before stealing second and third. Winning pitcher Aaron Rund escaped the jam with a strikeout and a fly out.
Campbell (3-1) led 4-0 after a 2-run homer by Drake Pierson in the second inning. ECU got RBI singles from Jacob Starling and Nowak in the third inning to cut the lead to 4-2.
The Pirates took a 5-4 lead in the fourth inning when a dropped fly ball allowed three runs to score.
Harris had a run-scoring sacrifice bunt in the sixth to tie the score at 5.
Nowak finished with three of ECU’s six hits. He also stole three bases,
The Pirates return home to host North Carolina on Friday at 5 p.m.
