DALLAS — Samuell Williamson scored 20 points on nine of 10 field goal shooting to lead Southern Methodist to an 86-70 American Athletic Conference win over visiting East Carolina on Sunday.
SMU hit 32 of 63 field goal attempts, 50.8 percent, including 18 of 31 in the second half for 58.1 percent.
Williamson had nine rebounds as the Mustangs had a 42-29 advantage on the boards.
The Pirates had an early 9-8 lead but the hosts went ahead to stay at 10-9 on two free throws by Stefan Todorovic with 13:58 left in the first half.
SMU had a 35-28 lead at the break.
R.J. Felton of ECU led all scorers with 27 points. Jaden Walker added 18 points and 10 assists for the Pirates.
Ezra Ausar had 11 points. Brandon Johnson scored nine and Quentin Diboundje added five for the visitors. Johnson had six rebounds.
A balanced effort for the Mustangs (10-18, 5-10 AAC) included 18 points from Efe Odigie, 15 from Zhuric Phelps, 11 from Zach Nutall and 10 from Jalen Smith.
ECU (13-13, 4-9) visits Tulsa (5-21, 1-14) on Tuesday for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
