GREENVILLE — East Carolina will take a 14-game winning streak into the American Athletic Conference tournament next week after a 3-2 win in 10 innings over visiting Houston on Saturday that completed a 3-game sweep of the Cougars.
Lane Hoover doubled with one out in the bottom of the 10th and scored the winning run on a single by Bryson Worrell.
The outcome lifted the Pirates to 38-18 overall and 20-4 in the AAC.
Houston (34-22, 13-11 AAC) took a 2-0 lead in the second on a 2-run single by Samuel Benjamin.
ECU cut the lead to 2-1 in the third on an RBI single to left by Worrell. The Pirates evened the score in the eighth on a double by Jacob Jenkins-Cowart that brought in Worrell.
Hoover and Worrell each had three hits.
ECU used seven pitchers. Garrett Saylor (5-3) got the win in relief.
Seniors Worrell, Ben Newton, Jake Kuchmaner and Nick Logusch were recognized at the final home game of the regular season.
The Pirates play South Florida (28-27, 8-16 AAC) on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in the first round of the AAC Tournament in Clearwater, FL.
