ELON — Josh Moylan went 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs as East Carolina downed host Elon, 7-1, on Tuesday night.

The Pirates (19-15) went ahead to stay as Moylan singled to score Cam Clonch, who had a hit to start the second inning and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Bryson Worrell.

ECU pushed the lead to 2-0 later in the second on a single by Lane Hoover that brought in Moylan.

An RBI single by Moylan and a sacrifice fly by Ben Newton extended the lead to 4-0 in the third.

Zach Agnos had an RBI single in the sixth that scored Moylan, who had led off with a triple, and the Pirates added two unearned runs in the frame on an error.

ECU outhit the Phoenix (15-17) by an 11-7 margin as Agnos and Hoover had two hits each.

The Pirates used nine pitchers. Starter Jaden Winter (1-0) got the win. C.J. Mayhue contributed two hitless innings with four of ECU’s eight strikeouts.

The victory completed a series sweep of Elon for the Pirates. ECU prevailed 7-6 when the Phoenix visited Greenville on Mar. 23.

The Pirates, who are 4-2 in the American Athletic Conference, start a 3-game series at Central Florida (21-12, 5-1 AAC) on Thursday at 6 p.m.
