GREENVILLE — Zach Agnos and Jacob Jenkins-Cowart each had three hits and three RBIs as East Carolina took its American Athletic Conference series against Wichita State with a 10-3 win at Clark-LeClair Stadium on Saturday.
The Pirates (18-14, 4-1 AAC) went ahead to stay as a 2-run single down the right field line by Jenkins-Cowart provided a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
In the fourth inning, Bryson Worrell scored on a ground out by Carter Cunningham before Agnos had a run-scoring bunt that brought in Jenkins-Cowart for a 4-1 lead.
Worrell had three hits and scored three runs.
Jenkins-Cowart had an RBI triple in the fifth for a 5-2 advantage.
ECU closed the scoring with five runs in the seventh. Cam Clonch drove in two runs with a double. Jenkins-Cowart came home on a wild pitch and two runs came in on a single by Agnos.
Jake Kuchmaner started and went four innings for the Pirates. He allowed six hits, two runs (earned) with two walks and four strikeouts.
Carter Spivey (2-0) was credited with the win as he turned in two and one-third innings in relief. Spivey yielded two hits, one run (earned) with one walk and two whiffs.
Trey Yesavage faced two batters and got two outs in the seventh. Jake Hunter pitched the last two frames with one hit and four strikeouts.
The Pirates look to sweep the 3-game series with the Shockers (12-18, 1-4) in a Sunday contest that starts at 12:15 p.m. (ESPN+).
