Frustrated on Pirates experience relapse at Temple

We lost to A & T. How can anyone really be surprised. Need a coach.

Jim on Pirates experience relapse at Temple

Very discouraging result for the fans, especially the lack of effort and execution. The program took a step back in the wrong direction Saturday.

Scott Free on Enough good news to make even Eeyore smile

Great news, Lite Brite:), always looking at the soccer results, Go Lady Pirates! and glad to see Coach Mo get rewarded for making one of those tough decisions in punting that ball late in the 4th. Good call Coach, I was there with him either way he went. Go Pirates!

ECU/VOL on Program showing signs that revival is underway

Had hoped we had a blow out win against ODU, but happy for a win and really pleased with our players. I believe we are going to be a good team. Happy I decided to keep my season tickets. GGOOO.......PPIRATES!!!

ECU/VOL on Program showing signs that revival is underway

Good observation and I agree with you. We have shown that we can play solid ball. Now we need to show that we can beat Temple across the board.

Irish Spectre on Momentum accompanies Pirates on AAC road trip

"...the call could have gone either way." ...at BEST, to be honest; the call was effectively game deciding. It was a mental/inexperience mistake by Herring. In D1, when you throw the ball way, you must throw it AWAY; the defensive backs are just far, far too athletic to leave throwaways on the margin.

Irish Spectre on Program showing signs that revival is underway

That was a classic 50/50 call by Coach; the lady I was with was one of the boo birds, but Pirates defense had their mojo on, and Coach was relying on it, as I argued at the time. (I was also thinking of that OT game vs. Tulane last year, when they couldn't get the 1 yard they needed to stay alive, though admittedly this year's edition on the ground is light years beyond last year's.) The d boys vindicated Coach's decision in a very big way. ...need to get Ahlers comfortable w/ the pass; for now, the platooning is fine. ...love the way the run game is developing; that gives Herring FAR more latitude. That they can pass is fully established; they MUST be able to run too in order to win. Being double digit dogs to Temple, even away, only shows that the wise guys aren't so wise; it's nothing short of insulting, but at the same time should be an excellent practice motivator this week.

Steve Reaves on Tech’s tin ear hard to explain

Atrocious attitude by the Tech admin and its message board fans. Could care less about this series continuing down the road.

Jonathan on Tech’s tin ear hard to explain

Bravo!! By the actions of all D1 schools in the Carolinas and Virginia this weekend Tech looked pretty ridiculous in their actions and comments. Also Tech didn’t look too “waterproof” when James Summers ran all over them in the rain in Greenville in 2015. Go Pirates

Irish Spectre on Pirates adjust and atone

All to credit to Coach and his Pirates for answering the bell under "must win" circumstances. Pirates ability to run and play stout defense were the most promising signs.

Leonard on From Arrgghh to Uuugggghhhh!

There are improvements that need to be made but despite the disappointing loss, the team looked better on defense. A&T deserves more credit than we give them as they make plays when they need them and find ways to win close games. Hopefully this loss will motivate rather than define this team. I hope to see an inspired performance Saturday and fans who maintain their sanity.

ECU/VOL on ECU’s revamped program about to be measured

What I have been looking for in these articles more addressing the problems and the fixes. That was always a strong point of Skip's and I had confidence it would get better. I appreciate that the defense is obviously better, but for some reason we still can;t seem to run the ball. The "O" line has to step up and do a better job. I will be at the unc game. GGOOO>>>PPIRATES!!

Irish Spectre on From Arrgghh to Uuugggghhhh!

"It just wasn’t meant to be." "The Pirates were hoping that the Heel’s cross country trip would give them the edge. The Sunday game evened out that playing field." Holy cow, even the Pirates REPORTING has become defeatist!! Well, at this early point in the season, the math appears to be pretty simple; either find a way to beat UNC, or stick a fork in 'em. P. S. It's not clear that Coach realizes that advancing the ball on the ground is legal in football; if he does know that, it's a mystery why nothing apparently was done about it in the offseason.

Dave on Camels add ECU, UNC to future schedules

Good for CU. Worked on campus there for 3 years running concessions for the athletic games. Watched their football stadium be built from the ground up. There's a lot of Fighting Camels pride in Buies Creek--just took a shift in university leadership to emphasize and prioritize it. Hope this turns into a long friendship on the field for both schools.
