Pirate "hopeful" for 2018 on ECU talent upgrade gaining momentum

Hoping for a better season. Can't help but notice the roster is devoid of DL 300 pounders. No names needed, but past successful coaches, plural - had rosters with 30 plus mega men that could dominate the line of scrimmage. My personal fav was Lin Joseph. We seem to be trying to go for the "light" quick approach. Sounds ok, but it has not been the best recipe for success at a high level with sustainable results for any program of national notoriety. If you can't control the line, you can not win consistently. It's still a blocking and tackling game!! All the skill players in the world can't play from the ground. Sure hope to see some blocking and tackling this fall! Love Dave Hart! Glad he is part of the scene again. So happy to see the ol "single wide" removed from Dowdy Ficklen!

Brett Might want to check the line "ECU’s class is currently the highest ranked in the ACC and among the top 50 nationally by both 247Sports.com and Rivals.com" and change the ACC typo to AAC.

Tom, I feel sorry for you since you obviously can’t read above a 3rd grade level & never met Coach Connors in person. It’s your loss & every anonymous idiot like you is a real tough guy posting silly nonsense on social media. Winners rise above Losers like you, Tom!!!

Tom - This article is about team and progress of players preparing for season. He’s put blood sweat and tears into this university - let’s hear about your success or lack there of. This was an excellent article for a true Pirate fan looking for insight to the program !

He’s so full of himself. Get your head out of the early 90’s. It’s time for some new blood and ideas.

The Kidd on Hart: Football health is key to righting the ship

You are in denial...…..our real coach left the year before and went to Oklahoma. Why do you think the roles are reversed at OU? And I don't think Ruffin is even the D Coordinator.

F. Eagan on Hart: Football health is key to righting the ship

A very good assessment of our situation. Many do not want to admit this though. The small donor is important and we need them. We lost them due to the firing of Ruffin Mc Neil and in particular the way it was done by the previous Administration. Make no mistake about it. That was an embarrassing blemish that ECU now has, having trashed one of our own in that way. I say it again, Make no mistake about it! Montgomery is not at fault, but combine his record of not just losing but being totally embarrassed in several games by programs we used to have the edge on because of that choice by the previous administration is directly a contributory factor. Accept it or not. Now, Montgomery must begin to win again. If not him, than another coach, if we can actually afford one.

Sportsdon on Dave Hart travels back to the present

He was a cool dude when he was here in the 90’s. Greenville has a very infectious vibe that makes it hard to be uptight or reserved. Plus 2nd chances don’t usually look the same.

Hard to imagine Joe Dooley being “out-there” with boosters and fans tailgating et al.

FGCU fan on Dave Hart travels back to the present

Hard to imagine Joe Dooley being "out-there" with boosters and fans tailgating et al. While we all knew as FGCU fans that the deal was for him to come here as a stepping stone to a bigger job (not sure why he couldn't do that as a top assistant at Kansas) and did NOT hold that against him, did he really need to be so arrogant and distant and aloof in SW Florida?
