Jim on Judgment day for Coach Mo may be a year away

You are ignoring Hart's comment that 40K fans would determine Montgomery's fate. The poor ticket sales and attendance, which will worsen as the weather gets colder, show that fans are sending a message to the Chancellor and BOT and it is not a message of approval. Another year could financially devastate the program and the students are not going to continue to pay for the administration's mistakes. Fans won't be back when the only "progess" seen is coming back marginally from the previously uncharted depths that this head coach has taken the program to.

Jim on UCF wins battle of frosh quarterbacks

Other Than Ahlers we have no running game whatsoever and the O line is generally weak overall. The offensive line is generally the key to any solid football team because the running game not only helps the offense be more versatile but a solid running game takes a lot of pressure off the defense and allows the D to rest and stay off the field. Other than giving up the typical big plays we always do the defense is making a lot of plays and stops but the offense has to be more constant especially in the red zone if this team wants to win a couple more games this year.......kind of sad to even say that about this proud program but that i s were this program is right now under this head coach.

Whenever we score a TD this year it feels like we got lucky, not the result of clever game planning.

Irish Spectre on Pirate fans get a revealing glimpse at the future

- dual-threat presence - open up the running game - more time and space - good corps of receivers - good defense (absent Temple) 'nuff said; the Pirates should be able to win several more games, quite possibly enough to give Coach a reprieve.

Jon L. Bass on Final stages provide hope

Great comment about Ahlers. He's our future. He showed last night he can pass the ball. He's going to have some ups and downs - but we have to let him play and get game experience. He's exciting, he's a leader - and given our overall won/loss situation this year - he's worth the price of admission to watch and to come to the games. Go Pirates!

Tim Slavin on Final stages provide hope

Ahlers came in during the garbage time of the game. He was playing against the Houston Cheerleeders which every puts in when they are crushing the other team. Let’s hold off on putting Ahlers in the Hall of Fame. Honestly I would rather you focus your articles on who is going to be the next football coach. Because it is time for Montgomery to get fired!

Irish Spectre on Big step backwards triggers QB sweekpstakes

"...he has now burned Holton’s red shirt year." I was wondering about that. This restart at the q position is frightening to hear, a seeming loss of confidence from the very top. The thing I don't get is that Coach himself said in the postgame that they lost in the trenches. If so, you can have Tom Brady back there, and you're still going to get beat. I didn't start watching 'til it was already over, but someone who watched from the beginning told me the color guy was commenting on the bad body language of the o coming off the field, walking; this kid told me the guy said "I've never seen that before." If this is true, than that's quite an indictment of leadership; wow. Their only hope now is to have erased their memories of the horror show in Philly, and to play with "healthy desperation."

Pirate "hopeful" for 2018 on Big step backwards triggers QB sweekpstakes

Well, he has now burned Holton's red shirt year. Great coaching Mo. The QB merry-go-round never works well. Maybe if we block for them they would play better.

After Temple, why not? Inconsistency and predictability of play calling on offense made things too easy for Temple. Still, the defense gave up 49 points, and looked uninspired! I agree coaches have to do better, but players have to adjust and step up their play as well.

BEdwards on Performance at Temple raises difficult questions

Any idea where we are on the AD search? Seems we need to get a permanent AD in so he can get started with a coach search before January.

Irish Spectre on Performance at Temple raises difficult questions

Me too re the likability factor; Coach Mo seems like a very decent man, but unless he can find at least 3 more wins on the runway ahead (Memphis, Tulane and UConn??), I don't see how the university can keep him. Saturday was far more about HOW they lost than THAT they lost. This kind of thing tends to feed on itself, too; if they end up releasing him at season's end, then recruiting takes a significant hit. Heck, it's probably already getting shaky.

Chris Moser on Performance at Temple raises difficult questions

This is completely unacceptable. There are obviously deficiencies that seem to comlntinually rear their ugly heads. Lack of proper adjustments, lack of dixlscipline, etc. I like Montgomery, personally, but he is NOT getting it done. Something has to change. How much longer are we going to continue to fall short?

Irish Spectre on Pirates experience relapse at Temple

"Travesty" and "embarrassment" are the first two words out of the gate. I appreciate Coach telling it like it is, though he probably has no other practical alternative. Just when his seat maybe, possibly started to cool down a degree or two, today it's probably hotter than ever. ...problems all around for the Pirates, but one I hear little discussed is team speed. As an example, ECU is 96th (out of 129) in average kickoff return yardage. Mercy.
