Deva Reece on Pirates vow to right the ship now rather than later

Brett.......Enjoyed article but was totally dismayed by arm tackling and mental mistakes on special teams. We have got to fix those. Did you forward my info on Danny Morrison as potential AD or do I need to do this??

Irish Spectre on Pirates vow to right the ship now rather than later

I agree that the Pirates appear to be battling; Holton Ahlers particularly is a rough and tumble competitor. Tulane away this week is definitely winnable, though not easy. If they don't beat a poor UConn team after that, even away, then things are really dire. If they win those two AAC games, and battle in the other two, then I think Coach's future is 50/50, and might be tipped his way by there being no AD at the moment. If they can also steal a win vs. Cinn. or (especially) NC State, then I'd say he's likely to stay (and should, in my opinion); but if he ends up w/ 4 or 5 wins and sees 2019, then he'll absolutely, positively need to make a bowl. They MUST be able to start running the ball, and fix the insanely bad turnover ratio, on both sides of that equation. Lost in all of this is that they have an exceptional FG kicker, but at the moment, it's a wasted talent.

Irish Spectre on Hope in Holton on the rise despite loss to Memphis

The OL indeed is killing ECU; they cannot win absent running. I'm pretty sure they've been down two OL starters for multiple games now.

Jim on Hope in Holton on the rise despite loss to Memphis

What we have seen from Ahlers in his first two starts is the only hope we have now for a turnaround in this program. 500 yards of offense from him with little help other than the big game ability form Travon Brown is amazing. The interior O line is the main reason we cannot win games.

The law of averages dictates that we will have a winning season in the next 19 years.

Al Myatt on Factors have moved in ECU’s favor

Home field varies from plus-3 to plus-4.5 points generally. So add the two to get the difference between playing at home and on the road. If Memphis is plus-4.5 at home and ECU is plus 4.5 at home, the difference is nine points.

C. E. Thomas on Factors have moved in ECU’s favor

The standard advantage for home field is three points not nine points. If coach wants a spark from his return time, I can save him some time. Of the four players he named, one has minimal skills and one is lazy; so that leaves him with Duce Fuller or Tyler Snead. CET 5201

Rod Gray on ECU ties plentiful among potential AD targets

Michael Sinquefield a former Pirate and long time Deputy AD at Texas Christian University (TCU) would be a great hire for the Pirates! He has been a part of explosive growth, conference realignments, entry into the Big 12, stadium and building expansions and is a football guy! His wife’s family still lives in Greenville. Plus TCU has a great offensive coordinator, Sonny Cumbie that is due a head coaching job! Put Sinq on the list! Mike has exactly the experience necessary to move the Pirates forward.

Brett Friedlander on ECU ties plentiful among potential AD targets

Workman's retirement today definitely takes the in-house hire out of the picture (unless Hart decides to stay on permanently). The names I mentioned were those that would be a good fit for the job, but hardly the only qualified candidates that are out there. It will be interesting to see which way the committee decides to go. This is as important a hire as any since Terry Holland brought Skip Holtz to ECU in 2004.

What about Steve Logan as the A.D. Would love to see him as the next coach again. Just a thought

I'm a disappointed not to see the name of Jeff Barber in the mix.

Pirate1 on ECU ties plentiful among potential AD targets

Workman retired today. Also, I'm not sure the obsession with "ECU Ties" is necessary. Many would point to Compher as a counterpoint, but by limiting ECU ties, too many potential excellent candidates are left out. Edwards from above certainly sounds like someone worth taking to.

Brett, thanks for article on potential AD's for our beloved ECU. May I include one more name in hope you will pass this to Search Committee. I propose the name of Danny Morrison as potential AD. Through a mutual friend of ours, Danny has stated as of last week, he had one more move in him before he retired, but he would not go through 8-10 candidates interviews. Danny Morrison is from Burlington and currently a Professor at South Carolina. 1. Athletic Director at Wofford 1985-1997 2. Athletic Director at Texas Christian University 2005-09 3. Past Commissioner of Southern Conference 4. Past President of Carolina Panthers Again, he stated he was happy teaching at USC but he did feel he had one more major move and was aware of situation at ECU. Please confirm you received this msg. and was passed on. Also, would love your thoughts on this potential nominee.

Paul H Gibbs (@PaulHGibbs1) on Judgment day for Coach Mo may be a year away

It should be obvious to the administration that Scott Montgomery can not get the job done. Given another year the program will be irreparably damaged. I can’t believe that coach Montgomery will do anything but further damage the program by being kept for the 2019 season. Give him a chance to be successful at another collage or university.

Todd Crouch on Judgment day for Coach Mo may be a year away

I will never forget my Junior year at ECU when my parents issued a summons for a family meeting; explaining that after paying 4 years of tuition without a degree they would need an action plan on how I was going to turn my fun times around at ECU or they weren’t going to continue to fund my destruction. I graduated 3 semesters later. My point is that I fail to see the logic behind continuing to write checks to the exact same group that has put us on this path without first hearing anything that leads us to believe things are going to change. I hear people talk about support for the players but if we cared about our players would letting an 18yr old redshirt freshman throw away a year of eligibility to salvage a coach be considered a better route to development?? I hate to see Pirate nation so divided but I think there needs to be some dramatic and swift changes made to start building on.
