WEST POINT — The most widely covered
football season in Army history gained additional exposure this week when
Creative Sports Network announced that it will include a pair of Black
Knight games as part of its national college football "Game of the Week"
package, syndicated to more than 125 radio stations across the country.
Army's season-opening date against
Connecticut on Sept. 6 and the Black Knights' Homecoming date with East
Carolina on Oct. 18 have been selected for the Creative Sports Network
package.
Creative Sports Network (CSN), which
syndicates similar national packages for various sports throughout the year,
also agreed to broadcast two Army men's basketball, two hockey and two
baseball games as part of the deal.
In addition to the games included as part
of Creative Sports Network's national radio package, the call of Army's
season-ending battle with arch-rival Navy will be carried nationally by
Westwood One Radio.
Nine Army football games are scheduled to
be televised this fall nationally or regionally, the most in school history.
Former East Carolina head coach Steve Logan is a part of the broadcast team
for the RNN network, which will air a number of Army games in the states of
New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
"With nine television appearances, three
national radio broadcasts and our own 17-station radio network, our football
team will be afforded tremendous visibility this season," Greenspan added.
"We are pleased that so many of our fans and soldiers across the country
will have an opportunity to follow the Army team this fall through radio and
television."
Creative Sports Network, which has
broadcast the College World Series to a national audience the past nine
years, boasts 129 affiliates in 38 states coast-to-coast, owning carriers
from Vermont to California. In addition, its broadcast signal is streamed
live on its Web site at www.csnsports.com.
Pirates finalize football game times
GREENVILLE — This week's announcement of
the
television plans for the East Carolina-North
Carolina football game completed the kickoff times for the
Pirates' 2003 home schedule.
ECU and UNC will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. on
Saturday, Oct. 11. The remainder of the Pirate home games, previously listed
as TBA, have been set for 2 p.m. This includes ECU's home dates for
Louisville (Oct. 25), South Florida (Nov. 8), and Southern Miss (Nov. 29).
All football times and dates are subject to change because of TV factors.
Conference USA busy promoting and hiring
CHICAGO — Conference USA has promoted four
staff members and hired one, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today.
Those promoted include: Brenda Weare, to
deputy commissioner; Russell Anderson, to assistant commissioner for media
relations; Brad Stricklin, to assistant commissioner for financial
operations; and Kyeshia Brakes, to assistant director of sports services.
Meg Ward has joined the staff as assistant
director of media relations and marketing.
Weare, who has been an associate
commissioner since C-USA’s formation in 1995, served as interim commissioner
last year and was an assistant commissioner of the Great Midwest Conference
from 1991-95. She’ll be responsible for office operations and sports
services.
Anderson, who has served as director of
media relations since 1998, will oversee media operations for all men’s and
women’s sports; while Stricklin, who has been business manager since 1999,
will assume responsibility for all financial operations.
Brakes, who served as championship and
marketing assistant last year, will aid in the operation of all C-USA
championships, while Ward, who was a graduate intern at DePaul last year,
will assist in media operations and marketing.
