Members of East Carolina’s baseball program watched the announcement of the NCAA Tournament bracket on Monday from TowneBank Tower at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and learned they will be the No. 2 seed in the Charlottesville regional.

The Pirates (45-17) made the NCAA field for the 33rd time and are scheduled to face third-seeded Oklahoma (31-26) on Friday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the double-elimination event. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

ECU has never played the Sooners in baseball.

Host Virginia (45-12), the No. 7 national seed, will open play at Davenport Field at Disharoon Park against Army (38-16), the No. 4 regional seed, on Friday at noon.

The Pirates won the regular season championship in the American Athletic Conference for the fourth straight year in 2023 but fell to Tulane in the title game of the league tournament.
