Pretty sure it’s JULY 4, not June 4. Lol

Brett Friedlander on AAC moves forward as UConn looks to the past

There was just one and it's been fixed. Good catch ... AAC and ACC easy to get mixed up when both are mentioned in the same column.

You've listed the AAC as the ACC a couple of times on here in this article.

Baseball Buc on Pirates caught in perfect storm

As an avid college ball guy, it was surprising ECU was not a national seed and had to go play on that early Friday game. We would have been @ Louisville for a Saturday game one but could not make it for the early Friday start. Great effort by the Pirates for 2019 and look forward to 2020. #23 will be well represented by Michigan and so will ECU.

Baseball Buc on Godwin’s fiery remarks hit the bulls-eye

Steve, you all played well and the rain is what caused the loser bracket to have to play back to back DH to win that regional. What Coach Godwin was speaking to is a different issue. ECU met all the traditional metrics to be a top Eight National Seed but was snubbed for some Power Five Hijinks. GA. Tech (ACC) moving to a #3 National Seed was the giveaway to the whole thing. They were over-seeded. That moved up some other Power Five Schools and bumped ECU and also eventually resulted in UNC (ACC) playing at home in the Super Regional. This benefited the ACC, but didn't work out when Auburn spoiled the NCAA effort, but then again the SEC is the most powerful of the Power Five with their greater than $1 billion endowment. Five Big Ten teams getting in showed more Power Five fingerprints. TCU with losing conference record getting in. I could go on. Louisville (ACC) played great but with an extra day or so the ECU players could have been rested and the scouting report perhaps more fully developed for Louisville.. The Power Five (ACC, SEC, Big Ten. Pac 12 and Big 12) own the NCAA and appear to dictate many decisions although that decision-making process in baseball is less than transparent. .

George Rhodes on Godwin’s fiery remarks hit the bulls-eye

Coach Godwin is a class act. Let's hope he remains at ECU until he reaches the age of retirement.

Steve on Godwin’s fiery remarks hit the bulls-eye

Coach Godwin seems to be a respectful, likeable coach whose players work hard for him. When we (Quinnipiac) lost our first game in the Greenville Regionals to Campbell, the NCAA made us turn around and play ECU immediately after our game that day whereas ECU had several hours to regroup after their game earlier that same day. We realize weather was a factor but being the #4 seed in the winner's bracket, we kind of got shafted by the NCAA having to turn around and play so quickly after losing to the #3 seed, Campbell. Didn't really seem to be in the best interest of the players. Hats off to ECU for winning 4 straight games but ECU being in front of a home crowd with rest in between games definitely was a factor going into our final game with them. If we had held on in the ninth and beaten Campbell that day we would have had 2 chances to play ECU for the regional championship the next day after being well rested. So I guess I'm just saying there are other factors regarding NCAA scheduling affecting other teams, too, not just ECU. Sorry it didn't work out for the Pirates at Louisville because you all had a heck of a lot of talented ball players. Good luck next season. We enjoyed our run in Greenville.

Great job Coach! Thank you for the way you do your job. You have built a culture here that truly captures the Pirate spirit. The chip is front and center. Wish you had been in charge of football for the past 3 years. Thank you for your dedication to our school and players.

Petey on Cards close Super Regional behind Miller

You fail to acknowledge that Louisville played their five games over four days, while we played our five games over 48 hours. We also had to fly there the day after playing until midnight while they stayed at home. All our pitchers were going on five days rest. No excuses, just facts, but understandable why our boys were playing tired. Cliff’s comments were spot on.

Irish Spectre on Cards close Super Regional behind Miller

Coach Godwin is an asset to the university, and will hopefully keep the program on the same exceptional trajectory, but it is inarguable that, starting in the 4th inning of the 1st game in Louisville, the Pirates were simply not competitive in any way, shape or form. After losing a couple by a combined 26-1 after 3 days off to a team that was seeded only 3 places higher (and also played 5 games in a regional that finished this past Monday, by the way) Coach's complaints about seeding and scheduling have a poor look about them.

So did Louisville in the ACC tourney and they got the top eight seed even though every metric the NCAA said they'd use was higher for us. Doubt a G5 team will ever get another top 8 seed since Coastal Carolina showed them what G5 teams can do.
