Coach Godwin makes men out of boys, and the boys WIN, they win in spectacular form I might add! Thanks Coach!!
Reply to this commentThanks to Coach Godwin and his fine staff, and all the wonderful Pirate players....it was a heck of a ride this year. We will end in the ride in Omaha one year very soon.
Reply to this commentCoach is a gift to the university; he knows who he is, and he sure as heck knows who He is.
...next year, Coach, next year.
Reply to this commentWhy hasn’t ECU seen the writing on the wall that if they don’t massively improve sports facilities (indoor practice facilities etc.) that they will NEVER get into the future G5 expansion conversation? Can you please write an article or comment on this subject.

Coach Overton will always have a special place with ECU baseball fans. I also grew up in Ahoskie, NC and we all are very proud of his accomplishments and what he means to the ECU family.
Reply to this commentSo very thankful for the amazing coaches that we have in Pirate Nation right now. In particular, Godwin and Houston. Classy men who do things the right way. I hope all in Pirate land will let these fellas know how much we appreciated them and what they are both building in G'Vegas. Love to see them here for a long long time.
Exciting times for Pirates. It's fun to watch the boys of summer and now, genuinely looking forward to the fall again. Also Looking to see the BB Pirates get on track and be a competitor on tobacco road.
Thanks for all you do!!!!
Reply to this commenton Pirates prevail at less than best
Great performance from Merritt Beeker, he could potentially be a real key down the stretch and into post season play. He was very highly recruited and was one of the best pitchers in NC high school last year. I am a bit surprised he has not played a bigger role with more innings to date.
Now that our RPI is #35, as long as we finish strong with these last 7 games at home we are likely in line for an at large bid even if we do not win the Conference tournament. No host this year but the team has battled through a lot of adversity and is coming on strong down the stretch run.

I really enjoy reading your work, Thanks
Reply to this commentYoung team - lot's of potential - if you watched the game, we hit it pretty well - stranded several runners - losing our ace for the season has not helped. Only gonna get better as I see it.
Reply to this comment"State turns back Pirates"?? More like a complete BEAT DOWN! Last time Pirates won in Raleigh, Obama was President - in his FIRST term.
Reply to this commenton ECU faces uphill battle in hunt for tight ends
In summary, ECU has a prayer of acquiring a single targeted TE, for whom, by the way, they are competing with 18 other programs.
...could've saved yourself a bunch o' pixels!!
Reply to this commenton ODU rallies in 9th to nip ECU
Coach yanks guys like it's going out of style; he must've had no arms left, because normally I'd have expected him to pull Grosz after 2 consecutive hits to start the 9th (including an extra bagger and a run), never mind 3 in a row; wow.
Reply to this commenton Fast start sends Cincy past Pirates
...been waiting for the Pirates to get going this season; Cinci has a losing record, as does Bryant, which swept them to start the season.
...thought the LeClair Classic performance was the turnaround moment for the Pirates, but nope. The Carson Whisenhunt matter is obviously a blow, but that doesn't account for all of the mediocrity.
In the recent analysis of the season to date in this column, you can clearly see Godwin's frustration, but the question remains whether they're underperforming, or were they overrated. The bottom line is that the differences between most teams in high level sports is a very thin line, pretty easily crossed due to a variable or two. There's still time to get it going; hopefully it'll start with this first conference series.
Reply to this commentWhat is wrong with ECU baseball? We finally get a winning season in Football, our basketball team avoids a losing season barely, and now the baseball team is playing like this seasons basketball team. Baseball has been what fans could always count on, with it having way more winning seasons than either football or basketball combined. Were the expectations too high for this team, or are they not playing up to their talent level so far? Also, why do you have to go NCAA baseball scores to find out the results of ECU baseball scores most games?
Reply to this commenton Volunteers first for Schwartz, for now
Being a University of Tennessee and ECU grad, I can't say how excited I am to see the impact that Coach Schwartz will have on our basketball team. Welcome aboard coach. Goo...Pirates!!
