on Pirates win out for Georgia prep linebacker
Great report !
Reply to this commentCorrect on that. ESPN has been no stranger to G*Vegas. Interesting an App St fan would chime in on our site unprovoked to 'brag' about superiority. Why did you feel the need to do that? Seems to me, we share a space in NC as the 'want to be's' in many minds with the 'other schools' present here.
We should be allies to some degree. App has had a good run in the last several years, but the Pirates have had some pretty good times as well. it runs in cycles it seems depending upon who is at the helm. As of now, we couldn't be in better hands. Love our current leadership!! And don't worry App fan, the series has been renewed between the two schools. It'll be soon, only a year away that it can be settled on the field. Perhaps some humility may be in order. Go Pirates!!!!
Reply to this commentI recall Game Day visiting Greenville in the 90’s. They ran a story on B’s BBQ and didn’t get there on time to get any. Came back the next year and got to B’s earlier. Maybe that was the Game Day B team.

Reply to this commentCampbell led after the first quarter? LOL
ECU football is now behind App in talent and pecking order in the state of NC. App hosted Game Day (ECU never has), App just beat a Top 10 team on the road (ECU never has), App pounded ECU in their last meeting. Advantage App!
Reply to this commentHey, Don: I appreciate your comments. I think there may be some confusion. The Game Day Weather feature for the ODU game was posted at 12:50 a.m. on Oct. 10, which was almost 18 hours before the game. The headline and lede for the story appeared at the top of the Bonesville front page all day on game day. We typically post the Game Day Weather feature in the wee hours the night before each game. Is it possible that you discovered the article in a search after the article was dated? In any event, your comments and suggestions will always be appreciated. ... Go Pirates!

Reply to this commentGreat to get the game day weather a week late for the ODU game. I looked every where for it last week. Any chanch we can get the weather forcast for the Campbell game?
Reply to this commentI enjoyed the game inspite of the occasion rain. WE barely won the first half, and I was impressed with their quarterback and receivers. Their quarterback was very accurate and they burned us on some long plays. In the second half, it became obvious that we were the stronger team and I was very proudof how we played. Great game. GGGOOO...PPIRATES!!
Reply to this commentWhat an exciting game. I am sure that the weather kept a lot of fans from the game, but they really missed an exciting game. ODU is a pretty good team, so I am very pleased about how we played. GGOO...PPIRATES!!
Reply to this commentI was at the game with my brother-in-law, a State grad. I believe they definitely won the first half and we won the second half. there is no question that we could have won the game. I was very proud how we came out and dominated the second half. it is clear that we have a good team. I can't wait to see the remaining games. GGOO....PPIRATES!!!!

I always think that we can beat state. We have so many times in the past, but after learning that they were ranked 13th in the country, I must admit that my faith was a little questionable. I am really proud of how we played and disappointed that we did not win. BUT.... this is our first game against a good team. I am confident that we are going to sink some ships along the way. GOOO....PPIRATES!!!

I'm shocked that State didn't try pounding the ball a lot more, and that 4th and goal try to go up by two scores late was really dumb. Basically, I think that State coaching was helpful to the Pirates, but that's not meant to take one iota away from their truly gritty, courageous performance. My guess is that as good as Coach Houston might've felt about his team before the game, he felt even better about them afterward.
Based on the line, was State overrated, ECU underrated or both? I'm thinking both.

I certainly hope you are right, and I think after the game, State has more question marks and soul searching to do. They came in a 12 point favorite and ranked #13, and left wondering if they are really that good. I think the Pirates look more like a true Mike Houston team each game. ECU has some special team issues to address but the program has to feel good about itself and the prospects for a successful season after this overall solid effort. Lets just forcus on ODU for now.

Pirates flying around, scratching, fighting, that was their goal line and they were not going to surrender it! Never been so proud of a bunch. 2 penalties, are you kidding me? The aggression without chippy attitude is intimidating to the opponent. Things are different in Greenville, 10 wins this year!
Reply to this commentI love Ruff, good man. He was not a head coach, did not recruit, his star players were walk on guys, except for Zay, and Robert Jones Called Ruff to sign Zay. Ruff did not recruit one single D1 lineman in his time In Greenville. Had several discipline problems , his teams were penalized often. He should have been fired, but the AD was totally wrong for the way he handled the firing. Lincoln was the only reason we won any games under Ruffs time on the pay roll. It’s natural for Ruff to give cold shoulder , he was humiliated by the AD, can’t say that I would handle the situation as well as Ruff had that been me getting fired that way. Life goes on.
