Bonesville.net columnist and special features writer Ron Cherubini has added a staff assistant with budding potential as a Pulitzer-caliber journalist — or perhaps as a doctor, teacher or engineer.

Cherubini and his wife Linda, each of whom holds two degrees from East Carolina University, have brought a new son — Vincent Michael — into the world.

Vincent was born Aug. 18 at 9:39 p.m. Tipping the scales at 7 pounds, 14 ounces, his early-stage physical attributes lend themselves to development as a linebacker or tight end. His 40-time was not available but anecdotal accounts indicate his body's ability to speedily process hydrating fluids is well above average.

Ron Cherubini, who authors the Pirate Time Machine Series and other articles for Bonesville.net and Bonesville Magazine, earned his Bachelors degree from ECU in 1991.

Linda Cherubini gained her Bachelors degree in 1995. Both Dad and Mom achieved Masters degrees in 1998.

According to recruiting reports, Vincent is an early lean towards ECU for his higher education.

The Cherubini family resides in Doylestown, PA.

Hurricane Frances sacks Citadel home opener

CHARLESTON — The Citadel has postponed its home opener against nearby Charleston Southern because of the potential that Hurricane Frances could be off the coast of South Carolina this weekend.

Citadel officials on Tuesday canceled all of the weekend's home athletic competitions, including two women's soccer matches in the Costco Soccer Classic.

Tuesday afternoon, Hurricane Frances was a Class 4 storm with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph. The storm was located about 145 miles north of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Projections called for the storm to make landfall somewhere from central Florida to North Carolina during the weekend.

The school said the decision was made early because of the potential need to evacuate students.

"Given the circumstances, it was decided that this is the appropriate decision to make to ensure the safety and security of everyone at The Citadel," said Maj. Gen. John S. Grinalds, president of the college.

The schools will try to reschedule, Citadel athletic director Les Robinson said.
