Pirate football as a fringe benefit for
employees? Not a far-fetched question for Eastern N.C. businesses looking
for a way to add an autumn boost to espirit de corps.
East Carolina's athletic department
announced last week it will offer a number of special corporate season
football ticket package for businesses for the upcoming season. Each plan
includes in-game recognition at all five games at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium,
with additional benefits available depending on the package.
The corporate plans begin at $3,000 and
include season tickets, hospitality tickets, group recognition and
souvenirs.
ECU's press release about the promotion
included a first-hand testimonial from an executive with a prominent company
which has taken advantage of the corporate bundle in the past.
"We have been extremely pleased with
the opportunity to bring our employees to ECU athletic events and feel that
it has been very beneficial for Wachovia, said Tim Ballance, Senior Vice
President of Wachovia Bank. I would strongly encourage other businesses to
take part in this great opportunity.
ECU also touts the corporate packages
as a way for businesses to win new customers or thank old ones.
This plan is a great way for
businesses to reward their employees or entertain clients, said Craig
Curtis, ECU Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing.
ECU will play its first of five home
games against Wake Forest, September 11 at 7 p.m.
For more information on the corporate
season ticket plans or to request an appointment with an ECU sports
marketing representative, contact the school's Sports Marketing Department
at 252-328-4530.
SLU marketing themes earn
national awards
ST. LOUIS - The National Association of Collegiate
Marketing Administrators (NACMA) presented two awards to the Saint Louis
University athletics marketing department.
The University won the Gold Award for the best
single newspaper display ad, which featured men's basketball player Chris
Sloan and women's basketball player Angie Lewis. The ad ran in the St. Louis
Post-Dispatch.
The Billikens also received the Silver Award for the
best season ticket sales campaign, which was called "It All Starts Here."
This campaign was used in newspaper, television, radio and billboard
advertisements.
"It's a tribute to our whole marketing staff," said
John Garrison, SLU's assistant director of athletics for external
operations. The marketing staff includes Kosha Irby, Tere Smith, John
Pacifico and Declan O'Neil.
"We worked closely with Spark Agency and the
University marketing and communications department to put together this
campaign," said Garrison. "We hope that our continued collaborations with
those two groups will result in more award-winning work."
The department received the awards at last month's
NACDA convention held in Dallas.
