Memphis, TN — The AXA Liberty Bowl has
agreed to a four year national radio rights deal with Los Angeles-based
Radio Sports America. Radio Sports America will syndicate the annual AXA
Liberty Bowl game beginning with the 2003 game and continue with annual
broadcasts in through 2006.
"The AXA Liberty Bowl has 45 years of great
history and tradition, "said David Smock, President of Radio Sports America.
"As a new player on the national radio scene, our partnership with the AXA
Liberty Bowl gives us instant national prestige and credibility."
In addition to a national radio audience in
the United States, Radio Sports America will broadcast the annual AXA
Liberty Bowl game worldwide on the Armed Forces Radio Network.
"We are excited about our new relationship
with Radio Sports America," said AXA Liberty Bowl Executive Director Steve
Ehrhart. "Radio Sports America will provide unprecedented national and
worldwide exposure for our title sponsor AXA Financial, the City of Memphis,
our charitable partner St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the AXA
Liberty Bowl."
The 45th AXA Liberty Bowl game will be
played December 31, 2003 and will feature the champions from Conference USA
and the Mountain West Conference.
Case closed on date, time for TCU vs. Cards
The confusion about when the Conference USA
game between Texas Christian and Louisville will be played has finally been
squelched.
The late season collision in Fort Worth,
which has been listed for different dates on various schedules from a number
of publishers, has been officially set for Wednesday, November 5, according
to TCU Athletics Director Eric Hyman.
ESPN2 will carry the clash, which will kick
off at 7:30 p.m. ET from Amon G. Carter Stadium on the TCU campus.
The selection of the game by ESPN2 marks
the fourth nationally-televised appearance scheduled for the 2003 season for
both the Horned Frogs and the Cardinals.
UAB official seated on key baseball committee
UAB Senior Associate Athletic Director
Bobby Staub has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.
