Eric Tyler drew a
walk. A towering fly
ball to left by Luke
Lowery was
misplayed, allowing
Love to score the
tying run. Lowery
was credited with a
sacrifice fly on the
play that put
runners at first and
second.
Kirk Morgan singled
down the right field
line on a 1-1 pitch
to score Tyler with
the winning run.

GREENVILLE — A four-run
first inning that included a three-run homer by Luke Lowery put East
Carolina ahead to stay as the Pirates completed an American Athletic
Conference sweep of Central Florida with a 6-5 win at Clark-LeClair
Stadium on Sunday.
The Pirates have a
six-game winning streak with a one-run margin in each victory.
The outcome moved ECU to
29-16 overall and 9-6 in the AAC. The sweep vaulted the Pirates into
a four-way tie for first in the league with Memphis, South Florida
and Houston, which are all 9-6 in the league.
UCF (26-19, 5-10) scored
three runs in the top of the ninth before Evan Voliva faced one
batter and picked up his first save with a fly out to right to end
the game.
Sophomore left-hander
Jacob Wolfe (3-1) started and pitched six and two-thirds innings for
ECU. He allowed eight hits and two earned runs while walking two and
striking out two.

Garrett Brooks walked
and later scored on a throwing error as ECU pushed its lead to 5-0
in the second. JoMarcus Woods had an RBI single in the third as the
Knights pulled within 5-1.
Doubles by Tommy
Williams and Derrick Salberg trimmed the gap to 5-2 in the fourth.
Reid Love's single
scored Jackson Mims for the Pirates' final run of the game in the
fifth.
Charlie Yorgen and
Lowery each had two hits. Lowery's homer was his ninth of the
season. Yorgen also drew a pair of walks.
The Pirates will be in
Lynchburg, VA, on Wednesday to play Liberty (28-16) at 3 p.m. The
Flames swept a Big South Conference series at home against
Gardner-Webb this weekend and will host James Madison on Tuesday in
a nonconference contest at 7 p.m.
