GREENVILLE — A four-run first inning that included a three-run homer by Luke Lowery put East Carolina ahead to stay as the Pirates completed an American Athletic Conference sweep of Central Florida with a 6-5 win at Clark-LeClair Stadium on Sunday.

The Pirates have a six-game winning streak with a one-run margin in each victory.

The outcome moved ECU to 29-16 overall and 9-6 in the AAC. The sweep vaulted the Pirates into a four-way tie for first in the league with Memphis, South Florida and Houston, which are all 9-6 in the league.

UCF (26-19, 5-10) scored three runs in the top of the ninth before Evan Voliva faced one batter and picked up his first save with a fly out to right to end the game.
