GREENVILLE — East Carolina beat Wichita State by the same score on Saturday, 7-1, as on Friday night to take the American Conference series as Ethan Norby and Joe Webb combined for a dominant pitching performance at Clark-LeClair Stadium,
The Pirates (24-15-1, 9-5 American) look to complete a sweep of the series on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Norby (4-1) started and scattered six hits over six innings. He allowed one run (earned) with two walks and nine strikeouts.
Webb, who pitched the last three and one-third innings Friday with six strikeouts for the win, went the last three innings Saturday. He allowed two hits with one walk and five whiffs in recording his second save.
“We appreciate Joe Webb and Norby was just outstanding,” said ECU coach Cliff Godwin on the Pirate radio network.

Unlike the first game, ECU never trailed on Saturday,
The Pirates took a 2-0 lead in the first as freshman Brayden Bachman hit his first collegiate home run after a double by Jack Herring.
Colby Wallace had a 2-run single up the middle in the third to bring in Herring and Bachman for a 4-0 ECU advantage.

The Shockers got on the board in the fourth on an RBI single by Alex Uloa. The Pirates answered in the bottom of the fourth as Herring’s single don the right field line scored Nick Parham.
ECU added a run in the seventh as Wallace scored on a single through the left side by Jeff Sabater.
An unearned run in the eighth pushed the lead to 7-1 as Parham came in on a fielder’s choice by Herring with a throwing error on the play.
“Our offense grinded,” Godwin said. “Bachman gave us a good swing.”
Starter Dax Sharp (0-1) took the loss for Wichita State (22-17-1, 7-7 American).
ECU had an 11-8 lead in hits. The Shockers committed two errors while the Pirates did not have a miscue.
Sabater went 4-for-4. Getting two hits each were Herring, Bachman and Wallace.
