GREENVILLE —  East Carolina’s last home game turned into a Tulsa shooting clinic as the Golden Hurricane took a 93-66 American Conference win on Thursday night.

Tulsa made 19 of 29 field goal attempts in the first half (65.5 percent), including seven of 13 from long distance (53.8 percent). The Golden Hurricane made all eight of its free throws in the first 20 minutes in building a 53-28 halftime lead.

ECU got no closer than 20 points in the second half in falling to 11-19 on the season and 6-11 in league play.

“They overwhelmed us with their offense and scoring early in the game,” said Coach Mike Schwartz on the Pirate radio network. “They shot the heck out of the ball and we had 17 turnovers, which is absolutely unacceptable.”

Jordan Riley had 26 points to lead the Pirates, two above his average, as well as six assists.

Corey Caulker scored 15 for ECU, Demetri Gardner tallied nine and Gio Emejuru added seven points. Luke Davis had nine rebounds.

Tylen Riley led five Tulsa players into double-figure scoring with 16 points. The Golden Hurricane improved to 24-6 overall and 12-5 in the American.

The Pirates close the regular season at Alabama-Birmingham on Sunday at 3 p.m. (ESPN+). Schwartz expressed hope for a scenario that would give ECU a shot at the conference tournament with a win.

The top 10 among the American’s 13 teams will make the league event in Birmingham, which runs March 11-15. The Pirates, tied for 11th with Rice, were helped by Memphis’ 96-89 loss at home to South Florida on Thursday night to potentially tie the Tigers for 10th with seven conference wins.

Memphis finishes the season at Tulane on Sunday at 2 p.m. ECU needs a Green Wave win. Rice hosts last place Texas-San Antonio on Sunday at 3 p.m. and could also get to seven league wins by defeating the Roadrunners.

Memphis beat Rice and the Owls split with the Pirates during the regular season.

ECU beat Memphis, 84-68, in Greenville on March 1.
