GREENVILLE — Three Western Carolina pitchers combined for a shutout as the Catamounts took a 2-0 win over East Carolina in the final game of the 2026 Keith LeClair Classic on Sunday.
Evan Myers, James Fordham and Owen Austin kept the Pirates (6-5-1) out of the scoring column. Myers (2-0), a freshman left-hander, started and went five innings. He allowed four hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Fordham yielded two hits over three innings with one whiff.
Austin had one strikeout in one inning for his third save.
Trent Turner homered to left for the Catamounts in the third and Jaylen Jones had an RBI single for the visitors in the fourth.
WCU (8-3) had a 10-6 lead in hits.
“Not enough tough at-bats,” said ECU coach Cliff Godwin on the Pirate radio network.
Braden Burress and Matthew Lashley had two hits each for ECU.
“Pitching was outstanding,” Godwin said.
Pirates starter Colby Weber went five and one-third innings. He gave up eight hits and two runs (both earned) with one walk and seven strikeouts.
Joseph Webb, Nick Moran and Brett Antolick all had scoreless relief stints for ECU.
Troy topped Rutgers, 2-1, in the first game Sunday.
The Pirates play at UNC-Wilmington (7-5) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
