NCAA Greenville Regional host and top seed East Carolina was named the No. 8 national seed and learned its regional opponents when the NCAA announced on Monday the field of 64 teams that will compete for college baseball’s national championship.

The Pirates, American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champions, boast an 18-game winning streak heading into this weekend’s regional at Clark-LeClair Stadium. ECU and No. 4 regional seed Coppin State will tangle at 1 p.m. on Friday, while No. 2 Virginia will take on No. 3 Coastal Carolina at 6 p.m. Both games will be carried on ESPN+.

The Greenville Regional is paired opposite the Austin regional, hosted by No. 9 national seed Texas. On Friday, the Longhorns will face No. 4 regional seed Air Force at 2 p.m., and No. 2 Louisiana Tech will be challenged by Dallas Baptist at 7:30 p.m. The Texas-Air Force game will be televised on the Longhorn Network, while the Louisiana Tech-Dallas Baptist contest will be carried on ESPN+.

The winners of the Greenville and Austin regionals will meet the following weekend in a super regional to determine which team advances to the College World Series in Omaha beginning on June 17. Barring an upset in Greenville and based on its top eight national seeding, it is expected that if ECU wins its regional it will host the super regional.
