MEMPHIS — East Carolina scored 11 runs in its last two turns at the plate to defeat Memphis, 15-1, on Sunday and complete a 3-game American Athletic Conference sweep.
The Pirates moved to 30-18 for the season and 14-4 in the AAC, two games ahead of Houston (32-16, 12-6 AAC) in the league standings.
ECU scored twice in the first inning and led the rest of the way as Bryson Worrell had a run-scoring double and Ben Newton had an RBI single.
Zach Agnos was 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs in the leadoff spot for the Pirates. Jacob Jenkins-Cowart went 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI. Worrell and Newton each had two hits and two RBIs.
Agnos had a 2-run single in the eighth and a 2-run double in the ninth.
Danny Beal (1-1) was credited with the win in relief as ECU used six pitchers.
The Pirates host Duke on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
