For the second time in four days, East Carolina’s basketball schedule has been disrupted. The contest between ECU and South Florida scheduled for New Year’s Day in Tampa has been postponed due to health and safety protocols within the Pirate program.

A brief American Athletic Conference release on Friday announced the postponement and indicated the two programs will have the discretion to reschedule the game.

The Pirates’ home basketball game with Wichita State that was scheduled for Wednesday night was postponed due to COVID developments in the ECU program. That announcement came from the ECU athletic department several hours before the game.

The next game on ECU’s published schedule is a home game with Tulane on Wednesday, Jan. 5 (7 p.m., ESPN+).
