ELON — Connor Norby led off the game with a home run and East Carolina went on to take a 15-0 win at Elon on Friday night.
The Pirates (17-4) scored six runs in the top of the first and added eight more in the seventh. C.J. Boyd had a solo homer in the ninth.
ECU outhit the hosts, 14-4, and four pitchers combined for the shutout with 18 strikeouts.
Seth Cadell and Zach Agnos had RBI singles for a 3-0 lead. Ryley Johnson singled through the right side to bring in two more runs. A sacrifice bunt by Ryder Giles scored Agnos for a 6-0 lead.
Thomas Francisco doubled down the left field line to start the Pirates in the seventh. Alec Makarewicz and Cam Clonch had run-scoring hits in the big frame. ECU benefited from five walks, an error, a balk and a hit batter during the seventh.
Gavin Williams (2-0) started and went six innings. He allowed four hits and struck out 11 with one walk. Nick Logusch, Josh Grosz and Dylan Lawson each pitched an inning in relief.
The Pirates play Elon (5-10) on Saturday at noon to complete the 2-game series.
