GREENVILLE — East Carolina improved to 2-0 against its revised schedule with a 91-62 win over North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

Jayden Gardner made 11 of 12 field goal attempts to lead all scorers with 27 points as ECU shot 51.5 percent from the floor. Brandon Suggs had 14 points.

Tristen Newton had 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Tremont Robinson-White had nine assists.

The Bishops (0-3) got 26 points from Damon McDowell.

“We had nine turnovers, which is definitely a winning number,” said Pirates coach Joe Dooley. “If we had passed to the corner a little bit better, especially early in the game, it could have been a five or six number, which would have looked even better.”

Dooley saw some things on the defensive end that he plans to work on before a home game against Radford on Saturday at 2 p.m.
