GREENVILLE — East Carolina completed a three-game sweep of visiting Marist on Sunday with a 10-5 win as a four-run third inning put the Pirates ahead to stay.
Ryder Giles had a single to center in the decisive frame that brought in Turner Brown for a 5-4 Pirates lead. Brady Lloyd drove in two runs with a single to right. A ground-rule double by Spencer Brickhouse scored Bryant Packard for an 8-4 ECU advantage.
Packard had a 2-run homer in the second.
Jake Washer’s RBI single got the Pirates on the board in the first and Lloyd came home on a balk in the opening frame.
Thomas Francisco had an RBI single for ECU in the fourth and the Pirates’ last run came in on a sacrifice bunt by Giles in the sixth that scored Dusty Baker.
Brown went 3-for-5 as ECU had 14 hits. Packard, Lloyd and Francisco had two hits each.
Cam Colmore (1-0) pitched three and one-third innings of relief to earn the win. He yielded three hits and one earned run while striking out four without a walk.
Trey Benton started and was lifted for Giles in the third. Benton was charged with four earned runs. Giles allowed one hit and no runs while fanning one in two innings. Zach Barnes pitched the ninth.
Conor McNamara (0-1) took the loss for Marist (4-8).
The 14th-ranked Pirates improved to 12-5 going into a game with Duke at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
