GREENVILLE — Caleb White was back from a one-game absence and Andre Washington put up the best numbers of his career as East Carolina took a 73-50 win over Stetson in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.

White had 22 points after sitting out Thursday’s 76-64 loss at Charlotte. Washington had 21 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked six shots as Pirates coach Jeff Lebo got his 102nd win at ECU, tying Tom Quinn for the most in the program’s Division I history.

The Hatters (2-2) were limited to 20.3 percent shooting from the field and were outrebounded, 63-38.

The opponent’s field goal percentage was the lowest in the Lebo era at ECU and the board total for the Pirates was the highest.

Lebo, in his seventh season at ECU, has a 102-101 record with the Pirates. He can surpass Quinn, who was 102-107 from 1966-67 to 1973-74 (eight seasons) on Tuesday night as ECU hosts Florida A&M at 7 p.m.

Quinn guided the Pirates to the Southern Conference tournament championship in 1972 and ECU’s first NCAA Tournament berth. The Pirates were topped 85-70 by Villanova in the first round in Princeton, NJ.

“Defensively, we were outstanding,” Lebo said Sunday. “To hold somebody to 20 percent and nine percent from 3, that’s pretty good. Some of it was good defense, some of it was they just had a horrendous night shooting the basketball.”

B.J. Tyson scored 14 points for ECU, which led 37-23 at the half. Kentrell Barkley had 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for the Pirates.

Derick Newton led the Hatters with 15 points and Divine Myles added 10.

ECU topped Stetson 93-73 on Nov. 27 last season in Las Vegas.
