Richard on Pirates staring potential disaster in the eye

I am retired, but when I was a working professional, I was expected to perform. If I didn't, then I started brushing up my resume real quick. The only thing that I saw this past Saturday was a team that was not prepared and one that did not perform. If there is not a drastic turn around soon, someone needs to be shown the door. That was the most discussing game ECU has ever played.

Donnie Parr on Pirates staring potential disaster in the eye

What I saw Saturday night was a team and coaching staff totally unprepared to take the field. West Virginia has to be licking their chops. Has anyone ever scored 100 points in a college football game before?

No doubt JMU is a very good team, very well coached, but, we are not a FCS school! Can't make excuses for bad behaviors...only going to lead to more "disappointment".

Alex Glissman on Disappointing start for Pirates

JMU is 2-0 vs the American Athletic conference in the last 3 years and is by no means the worst team ECU will play this year. After all they are the defending national champions at the FCS level. JMU is better than 40% of the FBS teams in the entire league.

I'm with you Jarman. '92 Grad and proud Pirate but my pride is really hurt right now. I was looking forward to spending my Saturdays tailgating in lot E but I refuse to spend that kind of money on an inferior product. The down ward spiral has just begun I'm afraid. Our offence was anemic our defense porous and we looked undisciplined and out matched in every aspect of the game. The word disappointed has been used a lot, mostly by our coach, the correct word is embarrassed. Pirate Nation deserves / demands a better product! Coach Mo-I do not care about your disappointment, I want you to be embarrassed! Embarrassed about how your team played and about how you coached! ..........Sitting here watching WVU vs VCU and typing this. Both of these teams will destroy us in week 2 and 3. Maybe we should just admit to all of college football that we made a mistake, ask for forgiveness and start over. Clean the slate, starting with the chancellor, then the AD, then the coach.

Myron Jarman on Disappointing start for Pirates

Are any of the Pirate faithful happy that our chancellor extended the athletic director's contract? The athletic director should have been the one fired instead of Ruff and after yesterday I think the chancellor's poor judgement puts him on the same slippery slope. We will end up 0 & 12 this year since yesterday was our easiest team to play. Graduate of '74 class & long time Pirate Club contributor but not buying tickets this year for this type of performance. Why spend big bucks on stadium improvements when you will not be able to fill it. Really sad!

Richard on Disappointing start for Pirates

I truly expected a close game and thought that we had a good chance of winning if we were well prepared and played well. It appears that neither was the case. I am beginning to think that perhaps there has been a couple of bad hires made at ECU. Firstly the AD and secondly, the coach. WE expect more. More games like this one and 10,000 is going to be a big crowd on game day..

Rob Ellis on Disappointing start for Pirates

I guess Saturday showed us where we belong...an also ran in the Colonial Athletic Association. I could have suffered a loss if we had at least been competitive. God this is frustrating! Has a college football team ever been worse served by an overpaid athletic director?

The Kidd on HV III has a bone to pick with the American media

Smart WAY beyond his years! I'm a fan that has been following him for years. Great golfer and person. I look forward to seeing him win the Masters one day.

G. Rhodes on The preseason preps you didn’t know about

Purple Rain would be a great to be included in the music played either just prior to games or during game breaks at DF.

David E Turnage on Five things to watch in preseason camp

On Page 25 of the ECU fact book is listed the current ECU Depth Chart which is a little different than what you have on the offensive line. The two starters Brandon Smith at right tackle who is the most experienced player returning (3rd year starting), Garret McGhin at the center position and Cortez Herring at right guard are correct. They list D'Ante Smith at left tackle and Des Barmore at right guard. The two deep lists some other players not mentioned by you such as the two freshmen Austin Lee at backup left guard and Matt Morgan at backup right tackle. Teams usually have five Quarterbacks with Sirk we only have four. The four quarterbacks currently here including Sirk have been here less than 3 years all together. We needed two more quarterbacks and added one. The coaches seem to be confident in Minshew but needed more depth and maturity at that position with either going the junior college or graduate transfer route. They preferred the graduate transfer route which is great choice at this position for us. The two should push each other and may the best man win. They will both be used this season and I hope they can both stay healthy and lead us to many wins this season.

The Kidd on Staton too quick to extend Compher

The " Ihatecheetos" comment I mean is the most stupid one I've ever seen on a Pirate forum.
