C. E. Thomas on Compher, Montgomery under hot spotlight

I have often wondered why we seem to think adding twenty to thirty pounds of fat to a lineman would make that player a better athlete. Without naming any names, there is one lineman on offense who is obese and based on his lack of aggression should not be on scholarship at any college football program.

I understand firing Ruff...it was time. And Mo is struggling still with a program that was in a nose dive. What I don't understand and still upsets me...why the Compher extention? I need some answers.

It's obvious that ECU will win only two or three games this year. They just don't have the talent to compete. Coupled with a three win season last year the handwriting is on the wall

The Kidd on Compher, Montgomery under hot spotlight

I met a starting offensive linemen a few months ago. Nice guy. But he darn sure looked nothing like Terry Long, Tom Scott, etc. of the past. Those guys were fast, muscular as heck, very little fat with the perception of mean. This kid was suppose to be a star on our offensive line. I told my buddy at the time he looked overweight and why was he sporting a "man bun"? In a testosterone laden sport like football where strength, speed, brains and a little streak of meanness are good things I can't understand this with our coaching staff. I don't want to be hard on this kid --- because lets face, the entire team looked like a powder puff womens team. What I DO expect is the coaching staff PREPARE these guys for battle. This kid, and the team, in my opinion, was not prepared by the strength coach as well as the O line coach and on up the line. I hope they can light a fire under these players quickly or it will be a very long season!

Im more put of that the DFS project was one time on budget. Once Compher secured his new contract he announces it will take twice as long and needs more money. That misrepresentation and mismanagement is more reason to get rid of Comper.

Jes Knappen on Lost night doesn’t mean lost season, yet

JMU shredded ECU’s preseason ECU hype balloon. Some Pirate talent, but Saturday night’s fragmented, inconsistent effort is indicative of a very long season.

I'm not sure if we have the talent/leadership on this team to pull off a '73 type recovery. I have the same feeling as I did during the JT era.

As a Gamecock and now son going to ECU we hated playing the Pirates because they were always solid. My first game in Greenville last Saturday and I was like...what the heck! This is not the ECU I remember.

I think someone slipped a mickey into into the pregame meal. The team and staff looked anemic.

I saw a team that was just plain SCARED! When was the last time anyone saw an ECU QB run to the sideline on 3rd down instead of diving for the sticks while down by 7 at home against a fired up team? Did JMU get the snap count instead of our O line? Sure looked like it as our O line was hesitant, slow and manhandled. The defensive line can learn from the JMU tape about how to dominate an O line. Its a lesson in how not to be pushed around. Did our linebackers even play? Was I watching the ECU Powder Puff team? Testosterone, anyone? Anywhere? I want our med school to physically check all players and coaches for a full pair of cohones. I've seen worse team during my 35 years of season tickets but they all had heart (even in the '80's). This team had better remove the tampons and dig out the old jock strap because now we start the season against real men playing smash mouth football at WV, VT and USF!

The Kidd on Pirates staring potential disaster in the eye

This team was just plain SCARED! Our offensive line was consistently beaten off the line and beaten up in general. You would have thought JMU had the snap count instead of ECU. Slow motion, hesitation, manhandled. Our defensive line should watch the game film on how to dominate an offensive line. Jeez, I thought i was watching powder puff football (with the exception of the punter). Where were our linebackers? Better have coach check to see if they truly have a full pair. As a matter of fact, we'd better get the med school to check every member of the team including the coaching staff. Testosterone anyone? We need it I've been a season ticket holder for 35 years and have seen worse teams talent wise but they all had HEART. They were tough, smart and mean. It is time for this team to remove the tampons and locate the old jock straps, boys, because WV, VT and USF are on the horizon!

No amount of sunshine can replace the reality that the Pirates are down and close to out. Saturday's debacle was a disturbingly pitiful showing and painful to watch. Football is supposed to be fun at East Carolina. Well ... ITS NOT anymore!!!

Jackson on Disappointing start for Pirates

Haha...that's right. Unfortunately no matter if it's VT, VCU or the sisters of the poor probably the same result.

Just to clarify - I think you meant Virginia Tech (VT) that was playing WVU last night.
