God Bless Coach Godwin and the players he recruits for ECU. I love how he mentors them to prepare for life (temporal and eternal) along with learning to play outstanding team baseball. Proud of these players, our baseball program, and my Alma Mater for still having some character and class in a world filled increasingly with corruption in college athletics. Keep it up Pirates!

Praise God for possibly the best group of seniors ever to play for East Carolina baseball. As the program moves further up the chain in college baseball and the process in place moves forward, Omaha gets closer and closer. Thanks Coach G for this upward trajectory. It has been fun.

Great job by the Pirates, hanging tough when it seemed they couldn’t get anybody out, and answering the Deacons with a walk-off rally. Somebody needs to ask Coach Godwin, why pull Yesavage after one out? Did Trey ask to be pulled? Why not give him another batter, and if he handles the situation, let him finish the inning. The Coach’s formula has been successful more often than not, but this seemed like a huge unforced error.

Will Yesavage and Root be ready to pitch?

My first ALS symptom occurred in 2016, but was diagnosed in 2018. I had severe symptoms ranging from shortness of breath, balance problems, couldn't walk without a walker or a power chair, i had difficulty swallowing and fatigue. A misplayed fly ball to centerfield in the second inning signaled the beginning of a very frustrating day. Although ruled a hit, the misplay allowed SLU to strike first. However, that would be the least of the Pirate problems, as the bullpen failed once again to support an ECU power surge at the plate. The season is still young, but there has been a noticeable lack of control exhibited by Pirate relievers, by and large. SLU made Pirate pitchers earn each out, while battling at every at bat. Hopefully, some bullpen arms will settle down and become steady performers. You aren’t going to have much success when your pitching is routinely giving away free passes to first base.

ALS is a cruel disease. My mum is 83 and had great difficulty speaking and swallowing much of anything. Food was getting trapped in her throat and blocking her air way was happening more often. she battled for each breath. The riluzole did very little to help her. The medical team did even less. Her decline was rapid and devastating. The psychological support from the medical centre was non-existent and if it were not for the sensitive care and attention of our primary physician, there she would have died. There has been little if any progress in finding a cure or reliable treatment. Acupuncture eased her anxiety a bit. this year our primary physician started her on Natural Herbs Centre ALS/MND Ayurvedic treatment, 6 months into treatment she improved dramatically. It has been a complete turnaround with her speech, she no longer needs the feeding tube to feed, the treatment is a miracle. She recovered significantly!

Great back-and-forth contest, which showed both strength and weakness by both teams. Both teams can manufacture runs, and both teams are in serious need of a more mature bull pen. Too bad this series had to be played early in the year. I’m betting both teams will be better off 30-45 days from now - and all these guys aren’t even the “cream” of the state teams. Baseball is alive and well in NC, so far, this year.

I’m betting Signing Day at many schools looked a lot like ECU’s did - a shamble of its former glory. What a damning testimony against the NCAA. How many of the schools currently labeled as “FBS” can afford to invest recruitment dollars and time on high school recruits, going forward. A recently run Dr Pepper commercial pokes some fun at the chaos created by the transfer portal. Sadly, it’s almost as truthful as it is tongue-and-cheek.
