Richard Edwards on Web Roundup for Friday, Oct 14, 2016

I can't believe that ECU is playing Cincinnati this Saturday and I can find nothing about it in Bonesville. Did I miss something? May be wrong, but believe we have a chance against bearcats. GGOOO......PPIRATES!!

Danny Whitford on View from the East: Pirates have eye on storm

Richard, I'm glad you asked. It's a question we should have answered when we made the transition back in August. We made the change in format for one primary reason and a number of secondary reasons. The primary reason was to make the site more reader-friendly for all devices, including smart phones. The previous format was designed for desktop, laptop and tablet screens. The new format still accommodates those devices while also displaying well on smartphones and other smaller screen devices. Among the secondary reasons were: 1) to update the site's underlying technologies in order to improve its handling of photos, videos and audio; 2) to improve the way advertising is managed; 3) to allow for readers like you to directly comment on articles; 4) to integrate social media tie-ins; and, 5) to improve way articles are posted and edited.

Absolutely nothing to do with the above article, but can someone please tell me what was wrong with the old format for this website? NOT an improvement in the slightest!!

Richard Edwards on Insights from Brett: Coach Mo waging battle against ‘growing pains’

I think the world of Coach Beamer. I was in the army reserves with his nephew. and he has been fabulous for VT. But his time to move on had come and he was smart enough to take it. They have a fantastic coach who replaced Beamer - without a doubt one of the best hires in the country. We need to support our coach and stop throwing rocks at him. GGOOO...PPIRATES!!!

Richard Edwards on From the Anchor Desk: Everybody needs a break

In spite of our loss to USF, I felt like we were not our own worst enemy. Still have plenty of room for improvement. I still think this team can be special. GGOOO....PPIRATES!!!

Good points....but Coach Thompson did inherit good players. Coming off 3 straight bowl appearances plus a solid Oline and DLine. Hopefully the ship gets on track sooner than later. Too early in the season to through a John Thompson season replica in the mix. Those 2 seasons were 1 & 2 wins. Still have another half of a season to complete.

William Young on Insights from Brett: Coach Mo waging battle against ‘growing pains’

David D....did you actually attend any of the games John Thompson coached.....no this coaching staff is nothing like that ....coach Mo inherited a group of dedicated young men that are simply not as talented as our opposition has been with the exception of WCU....the win over N C State was huge given what we are working with this year.....next time you're at a game or see us on TV, check the o-line and d-line play....you build great teams starting there.....we have great skilled players but we don't have the numbers at the other positions....just a fact, not a coaching fault.....John Thompson didn't inherit the best players either, but his coaching model was quite different from our current coach and that's why he failed....If Coach Mo still has this team's confidence, then we will turn this thing around, but we go into this week once again against a far more talented team and I don't expect great results......I do expect the special teams to start playing better....it would be hard to play worse, and even with a thin talent pool, I expect us to be competitive.....after all, USF is probably thinking more about the hurricane than us

Do you think we could get Frank Beamer to come out of retirement and coach special teams?

Dave on Insights from Brett: Coach Mo waging battle against ‘growing pains’

For cryin' out David D. Are you serious? Ruffin left the man with a dozen good players and half of them are beaten up. Superman can't build a team to compete in this new league using 1 star recruits and walk ons (yes, I know we've been lucky with a few walk ons). The man has coached 4 tough games using another guys players with an incredible win over NC State. Anyone thinking with their brain instead of their emotions knew this season was going to be Montgomerys' "mulligan". I expect us to be better next year but I'm not expecting miracles then either. Look at Montgomery & company recruits. Its a crowd of 3 stars! We have 4 and 5 star recruits giving us a good look! When was the last time that happened? And on top of it he hadn't head coached a game and got started late recruiting. Jeez man, its up to you, but you may want to cut the dude a little slack. See you at the game, bro'!

I agree Charles. He is a new coach and things have not been perfect. And it hurts, but he is our coach until someone takes his place. Meantime, let's support him as best we can. I still believe we have the making of a good team and good coach. GGOO...PIRATES!!!

If the special teams were just decent, ECU would have a mediocre or slightly better team.
