East Carolina's 2005-06 basketball schedule features 15 home games and will involve a road trip to Winston-Salem for the Pirates' first encounter with Wake Forest since 1986.

The home dates include visits by Conference USA rivals Memphis (Jan. 11) Houston (Feb. 4) and a reunion with old nemesis UNC-Wilmington.

ECU will open its first season under Coach Ricky Stokes with consecutive home games against North Carolina A&T (Nov. 18), Gardner-Webb (Nov. 22) and Wofford (Nov. 26).

“Our schedule is one we feel that will be very challenging for our young team, but one in which we think our team will be very competitive,” stated Stokes in a news release.

The Pirates will get a final tune-up for the regular season with a home exhibition game against North Carolina Central on Nov. 12.

The New Year's Eve game with the Seahawks of the Colonial Athletic Association will mark the first meeting between the teams since 2000-01, which was ECU's final season in the CAA before departing for C-USA.

Wake Forest's return to the Pirates' schedule is a part of a four-game series, one of which will be played in Greenville. During the course of the series, the teams will also play a second game in Winston-Salem as well as a contest at a neutral site.

In its basketball history, ECU is 0-3 against the Deacs and 0-49 against ACC teams collectively.
