Nebraska will have at least three games
televised by ABC this season, and the first of them will be a home contest
against Conference USA's reigning top dog.
The Cornhuskers, members of the Big 12,
will have their first ABC exposure when they host defending C-USA champion
Southern Mississippi on Sept. 11.
Nebraska's next appearance on the
network will come on the road, when it visits Big East member Pittsburgh on
Sept. 18.
The Huskers' third scheduled exposure
on ABC will be a Nov. 26 game with Big 12 rival Colorado.
"The excitement for this season is
evidenced by ABC already committing to three games," Nebraska Athletic
Director Steve Pederson said in an Associated Press report.
Pederson noted the road game at Pitt, which will be played at Heinz Field,
has positive implications in ways that reach beyond the field.
"The Pittsburgh game gives us a great opportunity to have a presence on the
East Coast, which is a significant recruiting area for us."
Clemson's
backfield takes a blow
CLEMSON — Clemson running back Duane
Coleman broke his foot during practice Tuesday and won't be able to play for
six to eight weeks.
Last season, Coleman led the Tigers
with 615 yards rushing. He also caught 34 passes for 309 yards.
"With his loss we will have to evaluate
what we are going to do offensively, especially on third down," coach Tommy
Bowden said. "He can do things that our other backs can't."
The injury came when Coleman was
tackled during a one-on-one drill on the first day of full-contact practice,
Bowden said.
