STARS: Darren Sproles, Kansas State, finished with 235 yards rushing, 88 yards receiving, and caught a touchdown pass as the 13th-ranked Wildcats upset No. 1 Oklahoma 35-7 in the Big 12 championship game. ... Justin Vincent, LSU, ran for 201 yards and two touchdowns in No. 3 LSU's 34-13 win over No. 5 Georgia in the SEC championship game. ... Matt Leinart, Southern Cal, threw five touchdown passes to help No. 2 Southern California beat Oregon State 52-28. ... Kyle Eckel, Navy, ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns, leading Navy to a 34-6 victory over Army.

69 YEARS LATER: Kansas State's 35-7 win over top-ranked Oklahoma gave the Wildcats their first conference title since taking the Big Six in 1934. Kansas State also beat a top three team for the first time in school history and will play in the Fiesta Bowl — its first BCS game.

UNLUCKY NUMBER: Army became the first team to finish 0-13 in major college history after a 34-6 loss to Navy. The Black Knights have lost 15 straight, the nation's longest losing streak, and 24 of their last 25. They have lost four of the last five against Navy.

DEVIL'S DUE: Ted Roof was hired as Duke's football coach after going 2-3 as interim coach. Under Roof, the Blue Devils snapped their 30-game conference losing streak with a victory over Georgia Tech and a 13-game skid against rival North Carolina.

SPEAKING: "This game is important anyway, but (the war) gives it a little extra. Last night at dinner we had a flag sent to us that flew over the airport in Baghdad. That they thought enough to do that, it tells you the military overseas and everywhere can stop for three, fours hours and it's like being home." - Navy coach Paul Johnson after the Midshipmen beat Army 34-6.

'Good Samaritan' nails SEC title game loot

LSU might have won Saturday's Southeastern Conference championship game, but it was a fan thinking about more than bragging rights who claimed a victory of loftier proportions.

Chuck Barlett won $400,000 at halftime of the Tigers' 34-13 thrashing of Georgia when he threw a 30-yard pass into a giant blowup of a Dr. Pepper can. He immediately said he was donating the money to Christian charities.

Barlett, who's from Natchez, Miss., completed one pass from 5 yards out, then missed from 10 yards. But when he backed up for his final attempt, he threw a perfect spiral right into the hole of the can.

He raised his arms and looked skyward, then shed a few tears. Barlett's family joined him on the field for the check presentation, when he announced where the money was going.
