Pirates overpower Spartans

Sophomore forward Darrius
Morrow had 22 points and 9 rebounds and got double-figure scoring
support from four of his teammates as East Carolina defeated UNC-Greensboro
82-61 Saturday afternoon in Greensboro.
Junior guards Brock Young
and Jamar Abrams each scored 15 points and junior center Chad Wynn and
junior guard Jontae Sherrod added 10 apiece to help the Pirates (3-4)
even their record in two outings this season in the Greensboro Coliseum.
Wake Forest
routed ECU in the venue 89-58 on
Nov. 15.
Senior guard Kendall Toney
score 19 points and freshman guards Korey Van Dussen and Kyle Randall
added 13 points apiece for the Spartans.
The Pirates outshot UNCG
from the floor 58.2 percent to 31.7 percent and dominated the rebounding
battle 40-30.
East Carolina led at the
half 37-23. The Spartans (1-4) cut the margin to 46-45 with 13:12 left
before the Pirates broke open the game with an 11-point run.
East Carolina, which
hasn't played at home since
a
77-60 win over Virginia-Wise on Nov. 13, will play at
Charlotte on Wednesday (8 p.m.) before returning home to face Coker on
Saturday (7 p.m.)
