MEMPHIS — East Carolina coach
Skip Holtz says he put his team's entire game plan in
before leaving Greenville. Now, it's just a matter of
polishing things up.
Holtz says the first
two practices in Memphis will be the most important
leading up to Friday's Liberty Bowl game against
Kentucky. Holtz says he'll slow things down a bit on
Wednesday and then hold a brief, closed walk-through on
Thursday at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
ECU offensive
coordinator Todd Fitch and four offensive players take
to the podium for a press conference on Tuesday.
Ironically, East Carolina has yet to score a touchdown
on offense in two previous trips to Memphis. The Pirates
were shut out by Illinois in the first trip in 1994, and
then the only touchdown in the 1995 win over Stanford
was the Daren Hart interception return for a score.
The Pirates also have a
busy "off-field" schedule this week. There's an NBA
game, a rodeo, a trip to the St. Jude's Children's
Hospital and there's always Beale Street.
It should certainly be
a fun week. But don't expect a letdown, as Coach Holtz
and the staff have preached all month about this being a
business trip.
It will be business,
with a little fun mixed in along the way.
