GREENVILLE — High Point
scored five runs in the second inning and went on to a 13-2 win at East
Carolina on Wednesday night.
The Panthers (12-11) led
13-0 before ECU (16-10) tallied twice in the bottom of the eighth.
Spencer Angelis went
3-for-5 as High Point outhit the hosts, 14-7. Jackson Mims drove in
both of ECU's runs with a single to right center that scored Luke
Lowery and Jack Owens.
Carson Jackson had two
hits and two RBIs for the Panthers. Also getting two hits for the
visitors were Hunter Lee, Josh Spano and Cody Manzella.
Getting hits for ECU
were Owens, Lowery, Ryan Clinch, Eric Tyler and Mims.
Jimmy Boyd (2-6) took
the loss as the Pirates used six pitchers.
ECU is scheduled to play
its first American Athletic Conference game at home against Memphis
(15-5) at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
