GREENVILLE — East Carolina pounded out a
season-high 20 hits to win its fourth straight game and sixth in its last
seven, downing N.C. Central 12-5 at Clark-LeClair Stadium on Wednesday
night.
Seven Pirates had multi-hit games with Luke Lowery going
4-for-4 with two runs scored. Bryce Harman was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and a
run scored.
Ben Fultz was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and scored three
times.
Getting two hits each as ECU improved to 14-11 were Dylan
Brown, Drew Reynolds, Zach Houchins, and Charlie Yorgen.
All of the Pirates' hits were singles.
ECU took control with four runs in the first inning, five
in the second and three in the third to provide starting pitcher Tyler
Bolton (1-2) with a 12-2 lead.
Bolton allowed five hits and two runs (one earned) over
three innings with two walks and two strikeouts.
Hayden White, Luke Bolka, Davis Kirkpatrick, Evan
Kruczynski, Brandon Taylor and James Gray also had mound stints in the
nonconference matchup for the Pirates.
NCCU starter Dylan Betland (1-2) was charged with nine
earned runs and took the loss as the Eagles slipped to 9-14.
ECU is slated to host a three-game nonconference series
with Maryland-Baltimore County this weekend beginning with a 6 p.m. contest
Friday.
