Rain forced the suspension of Saturday's East
Carolina-Southern Miss baseball game in Hattiesburg with one out in the top
of the 7th.
ECU sophomore designated hitter Drew Reynolds was
on second and junior outfielder John Wooten was at bat when the game was
halted with the score tied 2-2.
Both starting pitchers were still in the game.
Pirate freshman righthander Jeff Hoffman had surrendered just three hits and
Golden Eagle redshirt freshman lefthander Jake Drehoff had been nicked for
six hits when play was stopped.
The game will resume at 10 a.m. Sunday. It will be
followed at noon — but at least 40 minutes after completion of the suspended
game — by the third game in the three-game set. Southern Miss
eked out a 1-0 win in an epic pitchers' duel in Friday's opener.
ECU junior southpaw Tyler Joyner is slated to go
against USM freshman leftie Mason Robbins in the finale.
