Bombs away in Cincy

Bonesville.net Staff Report

In the most explosive offensive display in Conference USA history, East Carolina strafed Cincinnati mercilessly Saturday in a rout for the record books.

The Pirates, who have averaged 17 runs over their last four games and have piled up 141 runs during an 11-game winning streak, spotted the host Bearcats a 6-0 lead after one inning before breaking out the timber for multiple runs in each of the next eight frames to beat down UC 32-14.

East Carolina's relentless assault on Cincinnati continued unabated from the series opener between the teams on Friday, when the Pirates downed the Bearcats in a 15-13 slugfest.

ECU and UC will conclude their three-game set today. The first pitch is slated for 1 p.m. and the action is scheduled to be broadcast by Pirate Radio 1250 with the Internet audio streamed live by Bonesville.net.

At press time, the records smashed in Saturday's game were still being compiled (Box Score), but here are just a few of the most obvious ones:

C-USA and ECU records:

Team, most runs: ECU, 32
Team, most RBIs: ECU, 32
Individual, most hits: Jamie Paige, ECU, 7
Individual, most doubles: Jamie Paige, ECU, 4

ECU records:
