East Carolina was close to
selling out its allotment of tickets earlier this week for its AutoZone
Liberty Bowl game with Arkansas on Saturday, Jan. 2 (5:35 p.m., ESPN).
Ticket sales have
apparently gone well in Memphis and Arkansas, too. Bowl officials
announced Wednesday that the game is a sellout. A prominent notice on
the front page of the bowl's Web site
indicated that "more than 62,000 fans will witness" the game.
The Pirate football team
is scheduled to arrive at the Memphis Hilton, the team hotel, on Sunday
afternoon.
ECU will practice in the
afternoon Monday through Thursday at the University of Memphis Athletic
Complex.
Bowl week will also be
filled with a number of special activities, including:
-
A Memphis Grizzlies
game with the Washington Wizards on Monday night
-
A Fellowship of
Christian Athletes breakfast on Tuesday morning
-
A visit to the St.
Jude Children's Hospital on Wednesday morning
-
A New Year's Eve bash
on Beale Street on Thursday evening
-
A parade on Beale
Street on Friday afternoon
-
A battle of the bands
adjacent to the Liberty Bowl before the game on Saturday
