CLEARWATER, Fla. – Kutter-Gage Webb drove in three runs off three hits and No. 3 seed Rice rallied with two runs in the ninth inning to defeat No. 7 Wichita State 5-4 in the American Baseball Championship at BayCare Ballpark on Thursday. The Owls advance to face No. 2 East Carolina at 9 a.m. ET on Friday.
In the day’s second game, No. 5 Memphis capitalized on miscues to defeat No. 4 UAB 7-3. The Tigers (24-32) stayed alive to face No. 1 Texas-San Antonio following the conclusion of the ECU-Rice game.
Elimination games will follow later in the day with the Blazers going up against the loser of the ECU-Rice game and the Shockers facing the loser of the UTSA-Memphis game.
