CONWAY, SC — East Carolina took a 10-4 win on Sunday in six innings, avoiding a sweep at Coastal Carolina in dominant fashion.

The contest was delayed due to weather and then called with more storms approaching the area.

The Pirates improved to 8-7-1 with a 14-6 lead in hits over the Chanticleers (9-6).

Jack Herring, who was 0-for-12 in the series before Sunday, set the tone in the second inning when he followed a single by Austin Irby with a homer to left for a 2-0 ECU lead.

Grady Lanahan had a 2-run single with two out in the fifth for a 10-4 ECU lead.

The Chanticleers’ run production included a 3-run homer by Rex Watson in the third and a solo shot by Brice Estep in the fourth.

Colby Weber started and pitched into the fourth for the Pirates, yielding four runs (all earned). He allowed five hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
