BUIES CREEK — East Carolina was topped, 2-1, at Campbell on Tuesday for the sixth straight one-run loss for the Pirates to the Camels.

ECU slipped to 1-3 without allowing an earned run.

The Camels (2-2) got a leadoff double from Trent Rumley in the bottom of the first. He went to third on an error and scored on a passed ball.

The Pirates tied the score in the sixth after a one-out walk to Braden Burress. He came around to score from first when Jack Herring followed with a double to left.

Campbell got the deciding run in the bottom of the sixth after a leadoff walk to Rumley. A throwing error on a fielder’s choice put runners at first and second with none out.

Jett Music walked to load the bases. Rumley scored on a double play.

The Pirates had a 6-5 lead in hits but committed four errors to one for the hosts.

Joe Webb (0-1) took the loss in relief. Beau Brailey (1-0) got the win out of the pen for the Camels.

Sean Jenkins pitched the last three innings for ECU and had the mound highlight for the Pirates with a string of five straight strikeouts.

ECU will host Northern Illinois (2-1) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. (ESPN+).

Campbell is scheduled to play in Greenville on May 12.
