FORT MYERS, FL — St. Bonaventure topped East Carolina, 67-58, on Thursday despite a career-high 28 points by Jordan Riley.
Riley hit nine of 17 field goal attempts, including four of six from beyond the arc, and was six of eight at the line.
Tybo Bailey added 10 points, making three of six from the floor.
The rest of the Pirates struggled with their shooting, going a combined four for 32 as ECU lost its fourth straight and slipped to 2-5.
Giovanni Emejuru had six points and 11 rebounds for the Pirates, who led, 29-28, at the half.
St. Bonaventure (6-1) was led by Daniel Egbuniwe with 17 points.
ECU held a 35-33 rebounding advantage but committed more turnovers, 17-14.
The Pirates were within 56-54 on a 3-pointer by Riley with 2:21 to go but the Bonnies closed on an 11-4 run.
ECU was 0-2 on its Florida trip but will be back home to take on Maryland-Eastern Shore on Tuesday at 7 p.m. (ESPN+). The Hawks (3-6) were scheduled to host Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday at 4 p.m.
